MST’s Board of Directors and Senior Executives are Sydney based, and oversee MST’s global operations.

Gary Zamel BE, FTSE
Managing Director

Gary Zamel has been a private equity investor in technology, mining and industrial ventures for over 26 years.

He is a founding member of the company and has established five technology start-up companies including Mine Site Technologies Pty Ltd and Benthic Geotech Pty Ltd (an under-sea drilling venture), Park Assist Pty Ltd and Nubian Water Systems Pty Ltd.

In 1989 Gary founded Jellinbah Resources Pty Ltd and he is a founder of the AGSM Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the UNSW. He has a Degree in Mining Engineering from the University of New South Wales.

Gary is a Fellow of the Academy of Technology, Science & Engineering.

Phil McCarthy FAICD
Chairman

Phil is a company director and business advisor specialising in corporate strategy, value creation, acquisitions and divestment in technology, manufacturing, distribution and resources sectors.

His executive career spanned 36 years with Powercoal Pty Ltd, a large coal mining company, from which he retired in 2000 as the long serving CEO and Managing Director. Phil is a Fellow of Australian Institute of Company Directors and holds directorships with both listed public and private companies.

Duncan Murdoch BEc, LLB, MBA
Director

Duncan represents Macquarie Capital’s shareholding on the MST Board of Directors.

Duncan joined Macquarie Capital (“Macquarie”) in New York in 2001 and is the Co-Head of the US Principal Transactions Group (“PTG”), where he is responsible for the origination, execution and oversight of all investment activities involving Macquarie Capital’s own balance sheet, with a team of over 20 people. PTG aims to deploy capital, typically equity or equity-like capital, in order to support client transactions or growth ambitions. Duncan has a Bachelor of Economics (University of Sydney), Bachelor of Laws (Honors) (University of Sydney) and Masters of Business Administration (Stanford University).

Anne Hayes BAcc, CA, ACIS, GAICD
Director

Anne is Chief Financial Officer of WDS Limited, a leading Australian integrated provider of services to the underground mining and energy sectors. She has over 20 years public company experience gained in senior financial and management positions in companies such as UGL Limited, Finemore Holdings Limited and Brambles Industries Limited.

Anne is a Chartered Accountant and worked for nine years with KPMG in Scotland, Australia and PNG. She holds a Bachelor of Accountancy degree from the University of Glasgow and is a graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and Chartered Secretaries Australia.
