Black Beauty's Fransico Mine becomes 27th US Coal Mine to Install PED
Black Beauty Coal’s Francisco Mine has installed a PED System for general communications to complement the phone system already in place.
The system uses a 12,000 ft (3.6 km) underground antenna to provide signal to all parts of the mine. Initially 20 BeltPED Personal receivers have been used for supervisors and technicians. Some of the mine’s management had worked with PED at one of Black Beauty’s other mines (AQ1) and when they moved to Francisco, instigated the purchase and installation of the PED there.
Similarly to AQ1, Francisco has seen the ability to contact people wherever they are underground as providing good day to day management benefits.
